Chemical Properties:

White or off-white crystalline powder, odorless and bitter in taste. Insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, acetone and ethyl acetate, easily soluble in chloroform (1:6). Specific optical rotation [α] 25D+186° (dioxane); absolute ethanol solution has maximum absorption at the wavelength of 238nm.
